Book Recommendations for Enemies to Lovers
This week I thought I would share my favorite book recommendations for the "Enemies to Lovers" trope!
Crescent City
The first recommendation I have is Crescent City by Sarah J. Maas. I don't always see this book being recommended for enemies to lovers, but I think that it should show up more often. After the plot twist within the first few chapters, Hunt describes Bryce poorly and essentially says that she is a party girl and a brat. As the story grows their relationship becomes more trusting and they open up to one another about who they are. This is honestly one of my favorite enemies to lovers books to recommend to people!
Serpent and Dove
Second, I recommend Serpent and Dove by Shelby Mahurin. This book has two of the most entertaining main characters I've ever read. Lou's outgoing personality and Reid's stuck up one makes for an excellent and fun spin on the enemies to lovers trope. This book starts by an incident leading to a forced marriage between the two where they have to learn to get along in order to overcome the villain of the story, Morgane. By the end of the second book, their love story became one of my favorites and I found myself tabbing multiple pages to go back and reread.
Pride and Prejudice
For a more sophisticated and classic read I would recommend Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. In the beginning Mr. Darcy makes rude comments toward Elizabeth about how plain she is and so on. Their miscommunication leads both characters to think that they despise one another, but this is not true. By the end, their relationship grows to be one of the most iconic love stories ever told.
Kingdom of the Wicked
This fairly new release soon became a quick favorite of mine. Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco follows a teenage girl, Emilia, who is trying to find who murdered her twin sister. To do so, she summons the help of one of the seven prince's of Hell, Wrath. Maniscalco does an excellent job of tying in italian culture to the plot of this novel. Kingdom of the Wicked actually is what got me out of my Kingdom of Ash reading slump. I was pleasantly surprised by this fantasy novel with a witchy twist and I highly recommend it! My copy of this book came signed and with an exclusive print and bookplate courtesy of The Bookish Box!The sequel, Kingdom of the Cursed, is expected to be released fall 2021.
The Cruel Prince
The Cruel Prince by Holly Black is one of the best recommendations I can give for the enemies to lovers trope. I have never seen two characters hate each other as much as Jude and Cardan did in the beginning of this book. How their relationship grew was both interesting and unique. It is quite possibly one of the best enemies to lovers stories out there!
